Actual music blurb:
In a land far away, some many years ago, 2Sox decided to indulge in some digital only releases on a semi-regular basis. We certainly did not intend for the ‘semi’ to be quite so far apart as it turned out to be; but we are super happy to FINALLY be bringing you freshly fried Hot Eggs and introduce you to the boss that is, Rob Boss (@itsrobboss)
The Hot Eggs idea was always hatched with the idea of giving some lesser known and under the radar talents a platform (well, as much as a platform as we can give em) to showcase their skills - and we’ve always enjoyed local lad Boss’ stuff.
We have sat on this varied 4 tracker for a while now (sorry, Boss) but are delighted to finally bring it alive. The lead track ‘Cold Spell’ has all the hallmarks of a classic; plenty dreaminess, infectious bassline and melodic top line. ‘Volcanic’ evokes thoughts of Tim Sweeney’s BIS podcast; frankly, if it doesn’t get a play on there we’ll be disappointed.
‘Where is Empathy’ is a smooth yet doofty piece of business; a lengthy, rolling build up eases into action after a couple of minutes and hooks you all the way in. Rounding off this journey is ‘Be In At 11’ where the Boss Man shows his ability to create a killer bassline in sync with some crispy perc.
